The Collectors Reserve The Cape Mist Sauvignon Blanc 2021 was awarded double gold at the 2022 Veritas Wine Awards, whilst at the same prestigious competition, the flagship and collectable The Tangram White received three gold medals across 2018, 2019 and 2020 vintages.
At the 2022 Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards the Durbanville Hills Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc was awarded gold and the Cape Honeybee Noble Late Harvest 2020, platinum.
Sauvignon Blanc wears its origin on its sleeve so to speak. The terroir it is grown in plays a significant role in the final flavour profile, structure and crispness.
Although South Africa is generally a warm region, Sauvignon Blancs thrive in the cool climate of Durbanville where the vines are situated only 10km from the ocean and cooled by the south-easterly breezes blowing in from nearby False Bay. The sea breezes and mists cool down the vineyards, slowing ripening and intensifying flavours, crafting wines with crisp acidity and integrated flavours. The grapes are hand-harvested from a variety of high-altitude and lower-lying vineyards to create a taste profile that best represents the area’s unique terroir.
